Best shoes for quick lateral movement
I've been playing tennis for over a decade and these are by far the lightest, most responsive shoes I've worn. The Power Cushion tech really absorbs impact during hard serves and quick direction changes.

The Yonex Power Cushion Court FF 3 delivers a lightweight, responsive ride ideal for tennis players who prioritize speed and cushioning. Its snug Ergo Shape fit and durable outsole make it a strong choice for competitive hard-court play, though those with wider feet may want to size up or try a half size larger.
The Yonex Court FF 3 stands as one of the lightest performance tennis shoes on the market, engineered for players who prioritize speed and quick directional changes over the course of a long match. Building on the legacy of the original Power Cushion FF series, this iteration refines the upper construction with a breathable synthetic mesh that hugs the foot without adding bulk, while the moisture-wicking lining keeps feet cool during extended baseline rallies. Yonex designed this shoe specifically for aggressive baseliners and all-court players who need to close distances rapidly, and the reduced weight compared to traditional stability-focused tennis shoes translates directly into faster first-step acceleration when chasing down wide shots or transitioning to net.
Extremely lightweight for quick court movement— Court notes, 13 sessions / 53h
At the heart of the Court FF 3 sits Yonex's proprietary Power Cushion technology, a shock-absorbing midsole material that compresses on impact and releases energy back into the stride, reducing the jarring stress that repeated stopping and pivoting places on knees and ankles. This cushioning system works in tandem with a durable rubber outsole featuring a herringbone-inspired tread pattern optimized for hard and clay courts alike, delivering reliable traction whether a player is sliding into a defensive slice or exploding forward on a drop shot. The shoe also incorporates Yonex's Power Graphite plate embedded within the sole, a lightweight reinforcement that enhances torsional stability during lateral movements without compromising the shoe's overall nimbleness, ensuring the foot stays supported through aggressive cutting motions.
Beyond the technical construction, the Court FF 3 offers a snug, low-profile fit that appeals to competitive players seeking a shoe that feels almost like a natural extension of the foot rather than a bulky athletic sneaker. The reinforced toe cap addresses the drag and scuffing that comes from serving and defensive footwork, extending the shoe's lifespan even under the demands of frequent match play and practice sessions. Available in a range of colorways that reflect Yonex's modern, performance-driven aesthetic, this tennis shoe suits intermediate to advanced players who value a responsive, lightweight ride and want footwear that keeps pace with fast-paced, all-court tennis strategies.

Love the cushioning and support, but I had to size up half a size because of the narrow toe box. Once I did, they fit perfectly and performed great on clay and hard courts.
After three months of twice-weekly play, the outsole still looks solid. The colorway is sleek too — I get compliments on court all the time.
Comfortable straight out of the box, minimal break-in needed. Only wish it had a bit more arch support for my high arches, but overall very happy with the purchase.
