Great starter machine
Bought this to start stringing my own rackets and it's been fantastic. The six-point mounting keeps the frame stable and the drop-weight tension is dead accurate every time.
The Gamma X-2 is a reliable, no-frills drop-weight stringing machine that delivers accurate tension readings and solid frame mounting at a price accessible to hobbyists, coaches, and small shops.

The Gamma X-2 is a reliable, no-frills drop-weight stringing machine that delivers accurate tension readings and solid frame mounting at a price accessible to hobbyists, coaches, and small shops. While it lacks the speed and clamp precision of high-end electronic machines, its mechanical simplicity and durability make it a smart long-term investment for anyone stringing rackets regularly but not at high volume.
The Gamma X-2 stringing machine is a mounted, crank-style two-point stringing machine built for stringers who want dependable, shop-quality results without stepping up to a full six-point electronic or drop-weight professional rig. Designed for club technicians, teaching pros, and serious enthusiasts who string frequently enough to justify a dedicated machine, the X-2 mounts to a table or stand and holds the racket securely on a two-point suspension system while the stringer works the mains and crosses. Its construction emphasizes durability and repeatable tension, making it a reliable workhorse for stringing a wide range of racket sports frames, from tennis to badminton and racquetball, depending on the accessory kit chosen.
Very accurate, consistent tension using gravity-based system— Court notes, 16 sessions / 52h
At the heart of the Gamma X-2 is its tensioning mechanism, which uses a crank-operated system to pull string to a precise, user-set tension, ensuring consistency from the first main to the last cross. The two-point mounting system clamps the racket at the throat and head, providing solid stability while still allowing enough flex to string accurately without distorting the frame. Gamma equips the X-2 with sturdy string clamps that hold tension securely between pulls, along with a turntable base that rotates smoothly so the operator can access all stringing points without repositioning the racket awkwardly. The tool tray and integrated storage keep pliers, awls, and extra grommets within reach, streamlining the workflow for stringers handling multiple rackets in a session.
Built with a steel frame and a durable finish, the Gamma X-2 is engineered to withstand the repetitive stress of daily stringing in a pro shop or teaching facility, while remaining approachable enough for a dedicated hobbyist stringing for teammates or family. Its two-point design strikes a balance between affordability and performance, delivering tension accuracy and clamp reliability that rival higher-priced six-point machines for players who don't need the marginal gains of a fully floating mount. Whether used for restringing a single frame between lessons or handling a steady stream of rackets in a tennis shop, the Gamma X-2 stringing machine remains a trusted, no-nonsense tool respected throughout the racket sports community for its consistency, longevity, and ease of use.

Does the job well but the drop-weight system takes more time per racket than I expected. Still, for the price, tension consistency is excellent.
We use this at our tennis club for member restrings. Durable build, easy to learn, though the base could be sturdier on our older table.
As a part-time stringer, this machine offers professional-level tension accuracy without the electronic price tag. Highly recommend for beginners.
