The HEAD Extreme MP is a well-rounded racket that blends spin generation, comfort, and control, making it a strong choice for intermediate to advanced players looking for versatility on the court. While it may not satisfy pure power hitters, its balanced performance and modern technology make it a reliable option for all-court play.
The Head Extreme MP stands as one of the most recognizable frames in the Head lineup, engineered specifically for players who want to combine aggressive topspin with reliable control from the baseline. Built with a Mid Plus head size, typically around 100 square inches, this racket strikes a balance between the forgiveness of a larger head and the precision demanded by advanced competitors. The frame incorporates Head's signature Graphene 360+ technology, which redistributes weight strategically throughout the frame to enhance stability during off-center hits while maintaining a lively, responsive feel on contact. This construction gives players the confidence to swing freely without sacrificing the feedback needed to shape shots with intent.
Excellent spin potential due to open string pattern and Auxetic tech— Court notes, 24 sessions / 46h
What truly sets the Extreme MP apart is its spin-friendly string pattern, often an open 16x19 configuration, which allows the strings to move more freely and grip the ball longer during contact. This translates into heavier topspin and more pronounced angles, making it a favorite among modern baseline players who rely on heavy, dipping shots to control rallies. The racket's swing weight is calibrated to reward compact, fast swings, appealing to intermediate and advanced players who have already developed consistent technique and want a tool that amplifies their natural shot-making tendencies. Despite its spin-oriented design, the frame doesn't feel sluggish at net, offering enough maneuverability for quick volleys and reflex exchanges when points move forward.
Aesthetically, the Extreme MP typically features a bold, modern paint job with sharp color contrasts that reflect its dynamic playing character, and it comes strung with a hybrid or full synthetic setup depending on the specific model year. Weighing in at a manageable unstrung weight, it suits players transitioning from more powerful, beginner-friendly frames toward something that demands more precise footwork and timing while rewarding that investment with tour-level shot tolerance. Whether used in club-level competition or serious tournament play, the Head Extreme MP remains a versatile choice for those who prioritize spin generation, plow-through on groundstrokes, and a frame that adapts to an increasingly aggressive, topspin-heavy style of modern tennis.

This racket offers a fantastic mix of control and spin. It's not the most powerful frame out there, but for players who like to construct points, it's ideal.
Right out of the box, the racket felt great on my arm. I did add some lead tape to increase the mass for more plow-through, but overall a very solid frame.
The spin potential is incredible thanks to the open string pattern, and the Auxetic technology really does seem to reduce vibration on off-center hits.
